Sustainability

Sustainability is at the core of everything that we do at & Chai. We're devoted to doing good and being better to the world around us. Did you know that 40% of plastic use comes from packaging? Neither did we until we started our & Chai journey.

Materials

From our candle wax to the labels placed on each jar, we're incredibly conscious of every part of the crafting process at & Chai. Some of our products may have small imperfections and differences – that's because everything is handmade in small batches by us two sisters.

  • Soy Wax: Our wax is made from pure soy and is 100% natural, non-toxic, paraffin-free and vegan. We also choose to source it as close to our studio as possible, to eliminate unnecessary carbon emissions.
  • Wicks: We selected wooden wicks to create the most cosy, ASMR-worthy crackle whilst you enjoy your candles. They burn cleanly and evenly with proper care, and are sourced from Europe.
  • Fragrances: We're proud to offer a range of fragrances that are particularly close to our hearts and noses. They're unique, and unlike any you'll find elsewhere. Rest assured we only use cruelty-free, vegan, phthalate- and paraben-free oils.
  • Jars and Lids: Your entire & Chai candle can be recycled after use. Clean it thoroughly with warm soapy water, and pop the jar in with your glass recycling and the lid with your metals (it's aluminium).

Shipping

Your & Chai orders arrive in 100% recyclable cardboard boxes and corrugated sleeves, beautifully branded and sealed with recyclable paper tape. We're committed to reusing and recycling wherever we can, which is why some packaging may differ from order to order.

Our white packing peanuts dissolve in water, whilst our Kraft void fill can be recycled with household waste. Ordered some Soy Melts? Pop the glassine bag in with your food waste compost.

Plus, our 'thank you' cards can be recycled, pasted into bullet journals or even framed for a bonus touch of & Chai magic in your homes!

We're proud to offset our carbon emissions, hand-in-hand with Offset and Etsy. This means that we neutralise our shipping emissions to counteract the environmental impacts that inevitably come with running a (small) business.
